Reversed Etched Bronze

Please cur this one out, and replace with Corian, for which I will make photos and a spiel later.

Unpainted engraved bronze

Our normal bronze is very pure and fault free with sheets up to 4 X 2 feet. To go larger we have to use a more variable one with the occasional pit or inclusion, this usually does no harm, since by artificially ageing the bronze and giving it a brush finish any faults are hidden. […]

Stainless steel

POLISHED STAINLESS STEEL 316. We use” Stainless Steel 316”which is a marine grade, it will stand up to sea water and most chemicals. We canalso etch exotic steels like Duplex, Supererrititic andSuperaustentic. We do not use normal stainless steel 304 or allow unpainted mild steel anywhere near our workplaces, this is because the higher quality […]

Plastics

Bronze coloured texturedRowmarkis one of out favourite laser marking materials, it has a 20+ year life, is easy to laser cut and engrave, sometimes described as “plastic signs”, the products excel as plant and tree markers, pet grave markers, pet memorials or for a house sign. We use many other plastics and acrylics for safety […]

Oak

OAK. is used for all sorts of laser engraving and as backing boards. Oak lends it’s self to medal boards for listing past presidents of golf courses and such like in schools. There are some engineered boards available at B&Q which make excellent bases for house signs and plaques. Solid oak is a standard for […]

Mahogany

Mahogany is used as a generic name for a variety of similar woods generally having a reddish hue and a straight grain, we use two types, one to make sign frames, and the other to make solid backing boards and signs, as in the photograph.

Cedar

Wood is a dilemma to us, no problem with any wood indoors, but outside it is fraught with danger. We laser engrave, surface print, paint and shape all sorts of wood for indoor use, favourites are oak, beech, mahogany, ash and cedar. Mahogany and Oak are discussed below as items 6 and 7. Laser wood […]

Brushed Stainless Steel

This surface finish is the most commonly used for signs, it does not glare, take up finger marks or look out of place. (We sometimes do a dull polish, where the grain is a little finer). The other charactistics are already mentioned above under “Polished Stainless Steel 316”

Brass

Sign Industries can etch all types of brass. We have found that it is best used indoors, brass tarnishes very quickly outside and can look quite awful. We have a lacquer coating for indoor use although there is nothing nicer than a well polished unvarnishedbrass sign, even if the paint is wearing out ! Because […]
